Wheat Hub research must continue – even during this period of work restrictions! Along with others at the University of Adelaide those in the Wheat Hub are being encouraged to work at home if at all possible, and while this is a bit difficult for Anzu with her Agrobacterium plates and Yuriy using the NIR Spectra Analyser, everyone else has been able to modify their work program and have set up their own work spaces in their kitchens, lounges, garages, guestrooms and gardens!
Larissa at home threshing and phenotyping spikes for a large GPC experiment Priyanka in her lounge room threshing NIL heads from the 2019 multiplication Sanjiv at his kitchen bench – writing up notes for his most recent hydroponics experiment in The Plant Accelerator Sayuri in her converted garage – threshing seed from one of the 2015 NAM populations Yuriy in the lab – working with the NIR Spectra Analyser, measuring grain protein content Mathieu out in his garden – threshing one of the 2016 NAM populations Anzu still in the lab – checking Agrobacterium colonies on a plate for use in wheat transformation – a bit hard to do from home!
